  18. <p>     As a high school dropout, France's Vanessa Paradis was
  19. unsure of her career direction, so she decided to try two. So
  20. far both are working out. Earlier this year the stunning
  21. femme-enfant was named her country's top female pop singer, and
  22. a few weeks later won France's equivalent of an Oscar for her
  23. role as a drug addict in Noce Blanche. Paradis, 17, intends to
  24. pursue both paths for now. After all, "a lot of girls are
  25. served on a silver platter one day and dropped the next."
